James Bierl, an ECC Professor in the Respiratory Care Department, founded this

scholarship in memory of his son, James Luke Bierl. James Luke Bierl, a St. Francis
High School graduate, lost his life in a car accident on May 14, 2008, after completing
his second semester at ECC. This scholarship is awarded to students pursuing a health
sciences degree.
