This award was established in memory of Vernon J. Parks who developed training
programs for welders, technical and manufacturing personnel; and special programs for
engineers. Vern coordinated grants with Erie Community College, South Campus, under
CETA, and the University at Buffalo for API. As a member of the Workforce Development
Department of ECC South, Vern helped to develop the industrial manufacturing training
program.
