Brigette Nicole Gaskin Endowed Memorial Scholarship

SUNY Erie Professor Louise M. Kowalski established this scholarship in loving memory of her only child and daughter, Brigette, who went to heaven at the tender age of 14. Her belief is that a life that touches the hears of others will live on forever. It is her hope that this scholarship will touch many lives by assisting students with their college expenses. Brigette’s Mom, Louise Kowalski, also believes that we should leave the world better than we found it – this is just one way she can do this. Carpe Diem!
Professor Louise Kowalski, a single parent, realized that the only way she could provide for her daughter was to obtain an education and secure a career that would support both her and Brigette. Without an education she would never have been able to provide Brigette with so many “Best days of her life”. Brigette will always be remembered for her smile that lit up a room, her laughter, her giving ways and her love for life. Louise would often tell Brigette, “whenever you are sad do something nice for others and you will feel better”. This scholarship is Bridgette’s mom’s way of doing some nice for others.
