Professor Helen T. Singh Science Award

Helen T. Singh earned her M.S. in Physical Chemistry from St. Louis University in 1963 at a time when a minority woman in the natural sciences was rare. She was a dedicated and passionate educator and always sought the best in the people around her. For 27 years. she was a professor of chemistry at Erie Community College (SUNY Erie) and served as department chair for 10 years, until her death in 2020 at age 80. At ECC, she was a mentor as well as a teacher, and took great pride in the achievements of her students. This award was created by her family and friends to honor Professor Singh and carry on her legacy. The award recognizes a woman studying chemistry or related fields who demonstrate outstanding potential.

ELIGIBILITY:
1. Female student in Chemistry or related field (STEM fields, including Nursing)
2. Matriculated as a part-time or full-time student
3. Preference: student focused on Chemistry and/or performed well in Chemistry courses
4. Preference: student who has overcome adversity

Award is for non-tuition educational expenses (books, technology, tutoring, etc).
